The Heiress's Husband

👁 0 reads·23 min read

I was picked by the richest man in the country to be his daughter-in-law.

The richest man personally requested that I become his son's wife.

He wanted me to discipline his playboy, spendthrift son.

He asked if I could handle the responsibility.

It was almost laughable.

From now on, if that good-for-nothing brat dares to even look at another girl, I'll break his legs.

1

I was having barbecue at a street-side stall with my best friend.

She was scrolling through her phone, clicking her tongue in disbelief, and shoved the screen in my face. “Look, look, the nation’s young master has a new flame again.”

I glanced at it.

The phone was full of news about Julian Warrington, the son of the richest man.

The articles were accompanied by his photos. He was so handsome he outshone any celebrity, with an aura that made everyone call him “Young Master” the moment they saw him.

Too bad the guy was a total wastrel.

He went through more than a dozen girlfriends a month. With money and looks, he never turned anyone down, and after breaking up, he’d generously hand out a huge severance package.

“So he changed. So what?” I said nonchalantly, downing another glass of wine.

My vision was already starting to blur.

My friend nudged me, raising an eyebrow. “What would you do if he were your husband?”

“What would I do?”

Hearing that, I perked up immediately.

“If I were the wife of that idiot Julian Warrington, and he dared to go out with other women, I’d break his legs!”

“And he’s into stock trading? Buys one, loses money on it. If he were my husband, I’d watch him like a hawk. If he dared to throw our money around, I’d kill him!”

“Look at those dark circles under his eyes. How many kidneys does he have left to burn through like this?”

Halfway through my rant, my friend’s eyes went wide, and she stared at me in horror.

She blinked frantically.

I hiccupped. “Got a twitch in your eye?”

“Oh, and another thing. His dad’s an idiot too. He’s got only one son, and he still can’t manage to keep him in line. Look what a mess he’s become!”

“If I were his mom, I’d slap him across the face and then start working on a backup kid right away!”

The more I talked, the more excited I got. I couldn’t stop.

Suddenly, someone tapped me on the shoulder from behind.

“I think you make a lot of sense. Would you be willing to discipline him for me?”

Who?

I squinted and turned around.

*Smack.*

The bottle in my hand shattered on the ground.

Behind me stood a middle-aged man in a white shirt. His gaze was sharp, his posture straight, and he looked incredibly familiar.

H-Harold Warrington, the richest man in the country?

Could someone tell me why the richest man in the country was eating at a street-side barbecue stall?!

My friend covered her face and scurried away.

“Don’t be afraid!”

Harold’s expression was serious. “I think what you said makes a lot of sense. So, how about this—would you be willing to be his…”

My eyes lit up. “His mom?”

Harold’s face darkened. “His wife!”

2

Harold took me to the legendary Mansion of the Elite.

In my entire life, I’d never seen a villa this big. The flooring alone cost over three hundred thousand per square meter!

I sat on the sofa, and Harold sat across from me.

After a while, the villa door opened.

A man in a black Gucci t-shirt walked in, holding a leash in his hand.

Harold’s son, Julian.

When he saw us, he froze. “Dad, what are you doing here?”

“What’s this?” Harold asked, his face dark, pointing at the leash.

“My dog. You’ve seen it before… Whoa, where’s my dog?”

Julian panicked and turned around to look for his dog.

Me: …

Within two minutes, a husky wobbled in.

Julian put the leash aside, his face dark, and pointed at me, looking at Harold. “You’re bringing her here openly now?”

Harold’s face got even darker.

“Your mother isn’t dead yet!”

“Ahem.”

I cleared my throat, feeling like I should say something. I thought for a moment and then said, “Julian, right? Come here, kneel down. Mom has something to tell you.”

Julian’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.

“What’s the meaning of this?!” Julian gritted his teeth, looking at Harold.

Harold said calmly, “Get to know her. She’s the wife I’ve found for you. From now on, listen to her.”

Hearing this, Julian was dumbfounded.

“Her?!” Julian looked me up and down with disdain. “She looks so tacky. And you want me to listen to her? Dream on.”

Harold ignored him and handed me a bank card. “This is for you. From now on, all his money will be transferred to your card.”

“What do you mean?” Julian was confused.

Harold’s expression was calm as he narrowed his eyes at Julian. “From now on, all your money will be in your wife’s hands. Including the cars and houses under your name—they’ve already been transferred to her. Understand?”

Julian was furious. “Why?!”

“Even my money is with your mother, so what do you think?!” Harold’s expression hardened. “Less talk. Don’t make me slap you.”

I grinned, holding the heavy gold card in my hand.

So this was the weight of money?

“From now on, this waste is in your hands. Keep him in line. Spend the money as you wish.”

With that, Harold ignored Julian’s vehement protests and turned to leave.

Before he left, he nodded at me. “Don’t hold back. Hit him if you need to. What you said makes a lot of sense.”

“If you beat him to death, I’ll just start working on a backup kid. There’s still time.”

*Bang!*

The door slammed shut.

Me: …

Julian: …

There was some family feeling there, but not much.

3

What did it feel like to get rich overnight?

Clutching the gold card, I was so excited I messaged my best friend.

[I’m rich.]

She replied immediately: [Blink twice if you’re being kidnapped.]

Me: …

Even if I were being kidnapped, you wouldn’t be able to see me blink.

After I explained everything to her in detail, she just sent a “6.”

[I already feel sorry for Julian. Having you discipline him? Tsk, his childhood is going to be made up for in full.]

I didn’t think so. I’m very gentle.

“Hey, you!”

An annoyed voice came from behind me. I turned around and, wow.

Julian was wrapped in a bath towel from the waist down, his eight-pack abs barely visible. He smiled at me. “Ahem, sis, like what you see?”

“Yes.”

I was honest. Then I added, “My name is Claire.”

He really was, genuinely, incredibly good-looking.

“Sister Claire…”

Julian leaned closer to me, the scent of citrus body wash wafting over. He got right in my face.

I couldn’t take it. I was going to get a nosebleed.

“Could you give me the money…”

Hearing that, I snapped back to reality. I clutched the gold card tighter and spat out one word.

“Get lost!”

He was good-looking, but definitely not as good-looking as money.

Trying to seduce me?

He had the wrong idea.

I’d been gutting fish at the supermarket for ten years. My heart was colder than the snowstorms in the desert.

Unless you paid me.

Julian’s face instantly darkened. “You’re asking for it, aren’t you? That’s my damn money!”

“Get lost!”

I repeated myself.

“Damn it!” Julian cursed, his face red with anger. “If you were a guy, I’d beat you up!”

I proudly lifted my chin. “If I were a guy, I couldn’t be your wife, could I?”

“Get lost.”

Now it was his turn to say it.

4

The next morning, I woke up with huge dark circles under my eyes.

I’d been too excited the night before and hadn’t slept well.

The villa doorbell rang. Yawning, I opened the door to find a man in a black suit standing there.

“Miss Claire, I’m Mr. Warrington’s secretary, Zhang.”

“These are Mr. Julian’s car keys and villa keys. Mr. Warrington asked me to deliver them to you.”

Before I could react, Zhang handed me a bag printed with the words “Deposit Over One Hundred Million Commemorative.” Inside were all kinds of keys, stuffed to the brim.

I almost dropped it.

Mission accomplished, Zhang left with a flourish.

Carrying the heavy bag, I took the elevator to the underground garage.

I pressed the switch by the door.

The lights came on, layer by layer. The next moment, the bag in my hand hit the floor.

The parking lot was the size of a large amusement park, filled with every kind of luxury car imaginable.

There wasn’t a single Mercedes or BMW. The lowest tier was a Porsche 911, and above that were Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, McLarens, Maseratis—everything you could think of.

I was on my knees.

This was the wealth of the richest man’s son.

Yesterday, I had overstepped my bounds.

Carrying the bag full of keys back upstairs, I locked them in my room.

Then I made myself some breakfast.

Not long after, Julian came downstairs, rubbing his eyes. When he saw me, his face darkened. “Why the hell are you still here?”

I smiled sweetly.

I held up the keys to the Mansion of the Elite.

“Sorry, but this is my house now.”

“Damn it!”

Julian cursed, grabbing his jacket from the sofa. “Fine, you stay here. I’ll leave!”

“Where are you going?”

I stopped him. “I’m your wife. You have to tell me where you’re going.”

“I’m going to the Imperial Club. Don’t follow me!” With that, Julian turned and left.

As soon as he got out the door, he patted his pocket and roared, “Where the hell are my keys?!”

They were with me.

I chuckled. Julian shot me a dirty look and left.

I went back to my room, grabbed a random set of keys, and headed to the underground garage. I picked a McLaren at random and headed straight for the Imperial Club.

Little man, if I don’t get you back on the right track today, you can call me a coward.

5

Before heading to the Imperial Club, I made a detour to the biggest shopping mall in the southern province.

I bought myself a whole new outfit.

I looked in the mirror. Well, I had to admit, I was pretty good-looking.

Dressed up like this, I looked like I had a bit of heiress energy.

Ah, well, it wasn’t like Julian’s assets weren’t all mine to spend anyway.

By the time I reached the Imperial Club, over an hour had passed. Julian was probably already having the time of his life.

Time for me to make my entrance.

“Hello, who are you looking for?” the hostess asked, quickly approaching.

I smiled gently. “I’m looking for Julian Warrington. Could you take me to him?”

“Of course. This way, please.”

The hostess led me to the top floor of the Imperial Club, to the innermost room, 1603. Julian was in there.

Just as I reached the door, I heard his voice.

“I can’t believe my dad lost his mind and forced some hick on me as a wife. It’s driving me crazy.”

“And he gave her all my money! The old man must have dementia. He’s only met that hick a few times.”

There was some filial piety there, but not much.

Another voice, a sweet, feminine one, chimed in. “Brother Julian, don’t be mad.”

“Mr. Warrington must have been fooled by that woman for now. Don’t worry, we’re all on your side.”

Julian: “You’re the best, Lily.”

Best my ass.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I kicked open the door and stormed in.

The chatter in the room came to an abrupt halt.

On the sofa facing the door sat Julian, with a delicate-looking girl clinging to him.

Around them sat four or five other men, probably Julian’s hangers-on.

“What are you doing here?”

Julian’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise before he looked at me with disdain.

“Brother Julian, who is this?” the girl asked, glancing at me before wrapping her arm around Julian’s. “She looks so mean!”

I smiled.

What a little vixen.

I said, “I’m his mom.”

Then, before anyone could react, I walked over, grabbed the fruit platter from the table, and slammed it onto Julian’s face.

Julian was stunned. He glared at me. “What the hell…”

He didn’t get to finish.

I stepped onto the table, grabbed the collar of his shirt, yanked him off the sofa, and then—

A perfect shoulder throw.

*Thump!*

Julian hit the floor.

I’d been learning taekwondo, kickboxing, and Muay Thai since I was ten. I’d been the national champion for fourteen years straight.

Taking down a weakling who spent his days in clubs was child’s play.

Everyone was stunned.

6

The little vixen clinging to Julian was especially terrified. She swallowed hard and started trembling.

“Ah… damn it!”

Julian curled up, trying to get up, but I sat down on his back.

He braced himself on his elbows, unable to stand.

I calmly lit a cigarette and smiled gently.

“Hello, everyone. I’m Julian’s wife. My name is Claire.”

“Sorry for the lack of discipline at home. I apologize for the scene.”

The group stammered, exchanging glances, all their earlier bravado gone.

“Uh… sister-in-law, you’re pretty tough.”

“Yeah, yeah…”

I nodded, took a deep drag of my cigarette, and looked at the trembling little vixen.

She flinched under my gaze.

“Little sister,” I said softly. “I’m his wife. You know that, right?”

“Y-Yes…” The girl shrank back.

“Then why the hell are you clinging to him? Do you think I’m a pushover?!”

The little vixen burst into tears at my sudden outburst.

I shook my head to myself.

Tsk. This generation of vixens wasn’t up to par. Too fragile.

“I’ll let you off this time.” I stubbed out my cigarette and stood up. Julian hit the floor with a thud. “If I see you again, I’ll break your legs.”

The vixen nodded frantically through her tears.

“Get up. Let’s go.”

I grabbed Julian off the floor and smiled apologetically at the others. “Sorry, we’re leaving now. We’ll hang out another time.”

Julian: “Save me!”

Everyone was stone-faced, silent as mice. “Goodbye, sister-in-law!”

“Come play again sometime!”

No one responded to Julian’s plea for help.

Whoever dared to step in would get it from me.

“What the hell are you good for?!”

Julian roared in anger.

I slapped him on the back of the head. “Shut up.”

7

I got in the car and drove Julian straight back to the villa.

In the living room.

I lounged on the sofa.

Julian crouched in the corner.

“Did you have fun today?” I asked with a smile.

“N-No… not at all!” Julian winced.

I sighed and patted his shoulder, making him flinch. “Julian, look, we’re technically married now… or at least in a relationship, right?”

“There are some things I really don’t want to resort to violence for.”

“You should be able to tell that I’m a very gentle person. I don’t hit people unless I’m really pushed to the limit, right?”

Julian’s eyes were full of unspoken grievance, but he nodded.

I smiled with satisfaction. “See, you have me now, and you still go out looking for other girls. Don’t you deserve to be hit?”

Even though Julian and I were only in a transactional relationship, I still had the responsibility to change him.

And I couldn’t stand any infidelity.

As long as we were together, if he dared to go after other girls again, I’d break his legs.

Men needed to be disciplined. If you didn’t hit them, they wouldn’t listen.

Julian was about to say something, but I narrowed my eyes, and he immediately nodded frantically.

“Good. You agree you deserve it. So, what happens if you go looking for other girls again?”

I started to manipulate him.

Julian looked confused for a moment, then said, “I’ll… get hit again?”

“That’s right.”

I patted his head comfortingly. Hey, his hair was really nice. It felt like petting a dog. “So next time, remember that and don’t do it again.”

“It hurts me when you hang out with other girls, okay?”

Julian nodded.

I smiled.

This good-for-nothing. Not only was he physically weak, but his IQ was also lacking.

No wonder he lost money on every business deal.

“Great. Now, sign this contract.” I pulled a document out of my bag.

I handed it to Julian.

He looked at it, stunned. “What is this?”

“The Three Rules of Engagement.”

I crossed my legs. “From now on, if you break any of these rules, your allowance gets cut off completely, and you get a beating.”

Julian shot up, his earlier meekness gone. He glared at me.

“Claire! This is exploitation! You’re a slave driver!”

“I’m going to break my rule about not hitting women today. I’ll show you what domestic violence looks like!”

“Ha.”

I laughed coldly. “Are you even capable, you weakling?”

“Damn it!”

Julian’s face darkened.

He rolled up his sleeves and lunged at me.

8

I kicked him flying.

He went far.

“Damn it!”

Julian clutched his stomach, lying about fifteen feet away from me. “You… you actually hit me?!”

“What else?” I shot back.

“You lunged at me. I’m delicate and easily frightened. Don’t scare me like that.”

“You call this delicate?!” Julian got up and lifted his shirt. There was a bruise on his eight-pack abs.

From my kick.

Well, that was self-defense.

“Ahem.”

I cleared my throat. “It’s your fault for trying to fight me.”

Julian gritted his teeth. “Can I ask what you do for a living?!”

“Can’t you tell? I’m your wife. After we get married, I might be a stay-at-home wife,” I said.

Seeing Julian glare at me, I relented. “Fine. I’m a kickboxing coach. I’m with the national team now.”

“6.”

Julian just said “6,” looking at me with a complicated expression. After a long pause, he said, “My dad is a genius for finding you to keep me in line.”

I was modest.

“Keep it down.”

That night, after Julian showered, he lay on the bed, waiting for me to put medicine on his bruises.

I picked up the liniment. Every time I rubbed, he yelped.

“Can you shut up?” I said impatiently.

Julian looked wronged. “I’ve been beaten twice by you. Can’t I even complain?!”

Fine, fine.

I glanced at him sideways.

The kid had a good body and a good face. He had the looks, the physique, and the… well, he had the looks.

Other than being a bit stupid, there wasn’t much wrong with him.

“With an attitude like yours, you’ll never get married.”

After I finished applying the medicine, Julian muttered, “You’re so fierce. A tigress.”

“Don’t worry.”

I comforted him. “I’ll try my best to marry you.”

“Get lost!”

He looked horrified.

9

The past two days, Julian had been behaving himself.

He barely went out, just rolling his eyes at me.

But his good behavior was making my hands itch.

I hadn’t hit anyone in days, and I was feeling restless.

So I dragged him shopping with me.

“I’m not going, I’m not going!” Julian hugged his blanket, looking like he’d rather die.

I glared at him. “Are you coming or not? If not, I’ll hit you.”

“Why? I haven’t done anything wrong!” Julian protested.

Ha.

Little man.

I took out the contract and scribbled in a new rule: [If Claire requests it, Julian must accompany her. Otherwise, he gets beaten!]

Julian yelled, “That’s a tyrannical clause! Have you no shame?!”

“I’m warning you, Claire, I have my pride!”

I narrowed my eyes and raised my arm.

Julian immediately sprang up like a fish leaping out of water.

He urged me, “Hurry up! Aren’t we going shopping?”

Me: …

There was some pride there, but not much.

The mall’s parking lot was on the second basement level.

Julian and I had just parked and hadn’t gone far when a gold minibus came speeding toward us from behind.

It almost hit me.

Julian immediately cursed, “Are you blind?!”

*Screech!*

The minibus stopped. Seven or eight men in plain clothes got out.

“Whoa, how did so many people fit in that crappy car?”

Julian was stunned. He immediately chickened out, tugging at my sleeve. “Oh no, run.”

I didn’t run.

Julian didn’t run either.

I didn’t because I wasn’t scared. Julian didn’t because… he couldn’t.

Before I could react, a big guy grabbed Julian’s arm and tossed him into the car.

“Whoa, save me!”

They didn’t even look at me. They got in, hit the gas, and sped off.

I stared at the empty space beside me, lost in thought.

Was this… a kidnapping?!

Why was I feeling a strange sense of excitement and thrill?!

Wait!

I suddenly realized something was wrong. I took off running after them.

“Are you blind?! You missed one! Can’t you see me standing here?!”

“Why didn’t you take me?! Come back! Take me too!!!”

10

Unexpectedly, but not surprisingly.

I ended up in that gold minibus too.

And hey, for a small van, it could hold a lot of people. With the two of us, we could probably play a game of Werewolf.

An advanced version, at that.

Julian sat next to me, looking both angry and touched. “Are you stupid?! Why didn’t you call the police?! Why did you have to get in here?!”

“Mind your own business, you weakling. Shut up.”

I glared at him.

“Hahaha!” One of the kidnappers couldn’t help but laugh. “First time I’ve seen someone volunteer to be kidnapped. Which asylum did you escape from?”

Before I could answer, another kidnapper, who seemed to be the leader, smacked him on the head. “Shut up! This is a serious kidnapping! Show some respect!”

“Oh…” The kidnapper rubbed his head and stopped laughing.

The smile successfully transferred to my face.

The leader glared at me and kicked me. “What are you smiling at?”

Me: …

I’ll endure it.

Just you wait. When I find out who’s behind this.

I’ll break your legs today if it’s the last thing I do.

The windows of the minibus were all sealed.

I couldn’t see outside. I didn’t know where we were going. We took a lot of twists and turns before finally stopping.

“Get out!”

One of the kidnappers yanked me, and my head almost hit the car.

Good. That’s twice.

They took us to an abandoned factory and confiscated our phones.

Before I could react, I felt a kick to my rear.

“Damn it!”

I crashed heavily into Julian, who let out a scream.

“That’s three times!”

I gritted my teeth, turned around angrily, and glared at the kidnapper. “Do you have the guts to tell me your name?!”

The kidnapper looked proud. “I go by my real name. I’m Wally!”

“Wally, is it? I’ll remember that.” I was seething.

The leader walked over and smacked Wally hard on the head. “You idiot! You’re a kidnapper! Why did you tell her your name?!”

“Oh, right…” Wally looked confused.

“Both of you, behave yourselves, or I’ll make you see red!” the leader threatened us menacingly.

I sat on the ground, cleared my throat, and said proudly, “Who sent you? Do you know who he is? He’s the biological son of Harold Warrington, the richest man in the country!”

“Are you tired of living, kidnapping him?”

Hearing this, Julian nodded frantically.

The kidnapper laughed and walked over to Julian. “The richest man’s son, huh?”

“Of course!” Julian lifted his chin.

“Not only do I dare to kidnap him, I dare to hit him too!”

With that, the kidnapper raised his hand and slapped Julian across the face.

11

Julian was stunned.

He stared at the kidnapper in disbelief.

I was furious. “What do you think you’re doing?! You dare to hit the richest man’s son?! Just wait until the richest man gets here. He’ll kill you!”

“You think I’m scared of threats?”

The kidnapper was angry too. He slapped Julian again. “I’ll hit him, and there’s nothing you can do about it!”

“You… go ahead and hit him again if you dare!”

I was furious.

*Smack!*

The kidnapper didn’t hesitate. He slapped Julian again. “Try it, and see what happens!”

This guy was reliable. When you told him to hit, he actually hit.

He was an honest man.

“Do you dare…”

Before I could finish, Julian started crying.

“Please, just shut up, okay?!” Julian looked like he was about to cry from frustration. “She’s the one talking. Why do you keep hitting me?!”

The kidnapper seemed to realize this too.

He turned to look at me.

“Damn, you almost tricked me. Who the hell are you?” The kidnapper squinted, his expression unreadable.

The black mask only showed his eyes.

“I’m his fiancée!” I said proudly.

The kidnapper looked at Julian. “Your fiancée? Which family is she from?”

“No family. My dad picked her up off the street.” Julian glanced at me. “She’s useless. My dad definitely won’t ransom her. Just let her go.”

Hearing this, the kidnapper sneered. “We weren’t going to bother with her, but she insisted on coming along. Since she’s useless, let’s just get rid of her!”

“Wally, bury her in the back mountain.”

Me: ???

Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider? I have a lot of properties and luxury cars under my name!

Julian’s face went pale. He looked panicked. “No, no, I was just kidding. She’s useful! She’s definitely useful!”

“Tell my dad she’s here. He’ll definitely ransom her!”

The kidnapper was unmoved. “She knows our names. She can’t live.”

With that, Wally grabbed me off the ground and dragged me out of the factory.

As I was being taken out, I could still hear Julian shouting.

“If you dare to touch her, I’ll kill all of you when I get out!”

“Let her go! Damn it…”

Wally grabbed my arm and shoved me into the woods behind the factory.

He leered at me. “You’re pretty good-looking. How about… before you die, you let me have some fun?”

“Sure. How do you want to have fun?” I asked with a smile.

Wally didn’t expect me to agree so readily. He was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.

The next second, his laughter stopped abruptly.

Because I kicked him right in the groin.

“Ugh!”

Just as he let out a scream, I picked up a rock from the ground and shoved it into his mouth.

“Mmph!”

Wally’s mouth was full of blood. Several of his teeth had fallen out. I grabbed a stick, swung it, and hit him over the head.

He passed out.

I kicked him. “Next time you’re a kidnapper, remember not to tie your shoes with a bow.”

Idiot.

12

The kidnappers thought I was stupid.

But they were on the first level, thinking I was in the basement.

What they didn’t realize was that I was on the top floor.

What kind of kidnappers couldn’t even withstand a single kick from me? These guys weren’t even worth an appetizer.

I picked up a stick that felt good in my hand and hummed a tune as I walked back.

At the factory entrance, I could hear chaos inside.

“Boo-hoo-hoo… Claire, I’m so sorry!”

“It’s all my fault. I got you killed. I’ll avenge you, Claire!”

That was Julian.

“Will you shut up?! You’re so annoying!”

“If you cry one more time, I’ll kill you!”

That was the kidnapper.

“Go ahead and kill me! Do you think I’m scared of you?!” Julian roared, his voice heart-wrenching. “I wouldn’t even dare to lay a hand on her, and you dare to kill her?!”

I twitched my lips.

You wouldn’t dare to lay a hand on her? More like you couldn’t beat her.

You’re really good at making yourself look good. I almost believed you.

“Damn it, I’ll show you…”

Hearing that, I kicked open the factory door.

There was Julian, pinned to the ground, with the kidnapper raising his fist to hit him.

“You…”

The kidnapper heard the noise and turned around. When he saw me standing at the door, he was shocked. “How did you get out?! Where’s Wally?!”

Julian was overjoyed. “Claire, you’re okay!”

I swung the stick in my hand.

“If you’re talking about that guy who can’t control his lower half and is a bit of an idiot, he’s probably almost bled out by now.”

“You’re asking for it!”

The kidnappers all got angry and grabbed their weapons, advancing on me.

I counted. Six people. No guns.

As the saying goes: within seven steps, the gun is faster.

Within seven steps, the gun is both fast and accurate.

So if they didn’t have guns, they had no threat.

Julian looked worried and immediately shouted, “Run! Don’t worry about me!”

“Run my ass.”

I tapped the stick in my hand and laughed coldly.

“Sorry, but in this life, if I don’t agree, I fight.”

“In this flashy world, if you don’t have the strength, don’t show off!”

13

About three minutes later.

Six kidnappers lay scattered on the ground.

Their injuries varied in severity.

The worst one would probably never walk again.

I threw away the broken stick in my hand.

Julian watched me approach, his eyes twitching. He swallowed hard.

“You…”

I shot him a look. “You what?”

Then I untied his ropes.

This guy was so useless. He couldn’t even untie a simple bow tie himself. He had to wait for me.

After untying him, I walked over to the kidnappers, took their phones, and called the police.

Then I sat on the ground, waiting for rescue.

Julian crept closer to me. “So you’re this strong… When you hit me…?”

“What do you think?”

I rolled my eyes at him. “If I had hit you like that, would you still be alive?”

Even that shoulder throw in the KTV, I had cushioned it with my leg.

This weakling couldn’t even take a few punches from me.

Julian didn’t seem to mind. He leaned in close, flashing a charming smile. “Can you teach me?”

“If I ever get kidnapped again, maybe I can handle it myself.”

I thought for a moment. “Forget it. You can’t even untie a bow tie.”

Julian fell silent.

Had I been too blunt? Had I hurt his male pride?

Thinking about it, I added, “You can learn if you want, but you have to pay tuition. And no refunds if you quit.”

“Why do you still want money from me?” Julian complained. “You’re my fiancée. All the Warrington money will be yours eventually anyway.”

I laughed. “That’s not certain. You don’t think much of me. Who knows, maybe one day your dad will get tired of me and kick me out. Then I’d be the one losing out.”

“Who said I don’t think much of you?!”

Julian blurted out without thinking.

Then he immediately turned his face away, but I could clearly see his ears turning red.

I teased him. “What, were you impressed by my heroic moves? Falling for me?”

“Get lost!”

Not long after, police cars arrived with sirens blaring.

They sent a lot of officers, guns drawn, nervously approaching the factory.

Then they saw the kidnappers lying everywhere.

“W-What’s going on here?”

The lead officer was stunned. He looked at me.

Just as I was about to speak—

“Master Claire?!”

Huh?

I was a bit confused. Did this officer know me?

The officer fumbled to take off his helmet, revealing a handsome face with a look of surprise. “It’s me! I’m Chase!”

“Chase?” I was shocked.

Before joining the national team, I had another job.

I spent some time as an instructor at the police academy.

I taught things like kickboxing and combat techniques. I was kind of a teacher.

And Chase was one of the students I taught.

He was three years younger than me. Back then, he didn’t accept my authority and challenged me. After three days of getting beaten, he finally behaved.

I hadn’t seen him since I stopped teaching.

It had been at least three or four years.

Julian suddenly leaned in, looking displeased. “Who is he?”

Chase was also taken aback. “Master, do you know Mr. Warrington?”

Before I could figure out how to explain, Julian put his arm around my shoulders and said proudly, “You’re my fiancée’s disciple, right? Then you have to call me ‘master’s husband.’”

Me: …

Chase: …

The other officers: …

For a moment, the atmosphere was silent.

I pursed my lips and looked at Julian. “That was a great introduction. Please don’t do it again.”

We followed Chase back to the police station, gave our statements, and were released.

After all, we were the victims.

As we were leaving, Chase jogged after us. “Master, back in the academy, I never got your contact info. Let’s exchange numbers.”

“Sure.”

I didn’t think much of it.

We added each other as friends, and I left with Julian.

Harold Warrington was waiting for us at home.

As we walked, I suddenly felt the atmosphere was off.

I turned to look at Julian. His face was red, and he was glaring at me.

“Do you have a twitch in your eye? Want me to slap it straight?” I narrowed my eyes.

Julian was breathing heavily, looking like a pufferfish. “What’s your relationship with that Chase guy? Why did you add him on WeChat?”

I found it amusing. “Didn’t I tell you? He’s practically my disciple.”

“Yeah, right. Disciple.”

Julian rolled his eyes. “First a disciple, then a little brother. Next thing you know, he’ll be your sweetheart.”

“Stop being so sarcastic, or I’ll hit you.”

I was getting annoyed.

“You… I stopped seeing other girls! Why are you adding other people on WeChat?!” Julian finally blurted out, looking angry. “Shouldn’t you lead by
