Taming the Playboy
I was chosen to be the heir’s wife.
The richest man in the country picked me to marry his son.
To straighten out his womanizing, good-for-nothing playboy of a son.
He asked if I was up for the job.
Ridiculous.
From now on, if that brat so much as looks at another girl, I’ll break his legs.
1
I was having skewers at a street-side barbecue with my best friend, Claire.
She scrolled through her phone, sighing and clicking her tongue, then shoved the screen in my face. “Look, look. The nation’s young master has a new flame again.”
I glanced over.
On the screen was gossip about Lucas Warrington, the son of the richest man.
The article had a photo of him. He was so handsome he outshone any idol drama lead. With that air about him, anyone would address him with respect as “Young Master.”
But the guy was a complete waste.
He went through ten girlfriends a month. Rich, good-looking, took anyone who came, and paid them off with a huge breakup fee.
“So he changes them. So what?” I said indifferently, downing another glass of wine.
My vision was already getting blurry.
Claire nudged me with her elbow and raised an eyebrow. “What would you do if he were your husband?”
“What would I do?”
Hearing that, I perked right up.
“If I were married to that idiot Lucas Warrington, and he dared to go after other women, I’d break his legs myself!”
“And that stock market nonsense—he loses money on every single trade. If he were my husband, I’d watch him like a hawk. If he dared to throw our money around, I’d kill him!”
“Look at those dark circles under his eyes. How many kidneys does he have left to waste like this?”
I was getting really into my rant when Claire’s eyes suddenly went wide. Then she stared at me in horror.
She was frantically signaling me.
I burped. “Got a twitch in your eye?”
“Oh, and another thing—his dad is an idiot too. He’s got only one son and he can’t even bother to discipline him properly. Look what a mess he’s turned into!”
“If I were his mom, I’d slap him across the face, then hurry up and have another kid!”
The more I talked, the more worked up I got. I couldn’t stop.
Suddenly, someone tapped me on the shoulder from behind.
“I think you make a lot of sense. Would you be willing to discipline him for me?”
Who?
I squinted and turned around.
*Smack.*
The bottle in my hand fell to the ground.
Standing behind me was a middle-aged man in a white shirt. His gaze was sharp, his posture was impeccable, and he looked incredibly familiar.
H—Harrison Warrington, the richest man in the country?
Could someone tell me why the richest man in the country was eating at a street-side barbecue?!
Claire covered her face and bolted.
“Don’t be afraid!”
Harrison’s expression was serious. “I really think you have a point. So, how about this—would you be willing to be his...”
My eyes lit up. “His mom?”
Harrison’s face darkened. “His wife!”
2
Harrison took me to the legendary Mansion One.
In my whole life, I’d never seen a villa this big. The flooring alone cost over three hundred thousand per square meter!
I sat on the sofa, and Harrison sat across from me.
After a while, the villa door opened.
A man in a black Gucci t-shirt walked in, holding a leash.
Harrison’s son, Lucas.
When he saw us, he was stunned for a moment. “Dad, what are you doing here?”
“What’s this?” Harrison asked, his face dark, pointing at the leash.
“My dog. You’ve seen him before... Oh, shit, where’s my dog?”
Lucas was startled and immediately turned around to look for the dog.
I: ...
A few minutes later, a husky wobbled in.
Lucas tossed the leash aside, his face dark. He pointed at me and looked at Harrison. “You’re bringing her here to my place openly now?”
Harrison’s face got even darker.
“My wife isn’t dead yet!”
“Ahem.”
I cleared my throat, feeling like I should say something. After thinking it over, I said, “Lucas, right? Come here, kneel down. Mom wants to talk to you about something.”
Lucas’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
“What is the meaning of this?!” Lucas gritted his teeth, looking at Harrison.
Harrison said calmly, “Get acquainted. This is the wife I found for you. From now on, you will listen to her.”
Hearing this, Lucas was dumbfounded.
“Her??” Lucas looked me up and down with disdain. “She looks so rustic. And you want me to listen to her? Dream on.”
Harrison ignored him and handed me a bank card. “This is for you. From now on, all his money will be transferred to your account.”
“What do you mean?” Lucas looked confused.
Harrison’s expression was calm as he squinted at Lucas. “From now on, your money will be in your wife’s hands. Including the cars and houses under your name. They’ve already been transferred to her. Understand?”
Lucas was furious. “Why?!”
“Even my money is with your mother, so what makes you so special!” Harrison’s expression hardened. “Enough talk. Don’t make me slap you.”
I was beaming, holding the heavy gold card in my hand.
So this is what the weight of money feels like?
“From now on, this waste is your responsibility. Keep him in line. Spend the money however you want.”
After saying that, ignoring Lucas’s vehement protests, Harrison turned and left.
Before he left, he signaled to me, “Don’t hold back. Beat him if you have to. What you said makes a lot of sense.”
“If you beat him to death, I’ll just hurry up and have another one. There’s still time.”
*Bang!*
The door closed.
I: ...
Lucas: ...
There’s some family affection there. But not much.
3
What does it feel like to get rich overnight?
I clutched the gold card in my hand, too excited. I texted Claire.
[I’m rich.]
Claire replied immediately: [If you’re being kidnapped, blink.]
I: ...
Even if I were being kidnapped, you can’t see me blink through a text, you idiot.
After I explained everything to Claire in painstaking detail, she simply replied with a “6.”
[I’m already starting to feel sorry for Lucas. Having you discipline him? Tsk, tsk. He’s going to get all the childhood discipline he missed out on.]
I disagreed. I’m very gentle.
“Hey, you!”
An annoyed voice came from behind me. I turned around. Holy crap.
Lucas was wearing only a towel around his waist, his eight-pack abs barely visible. He smiled at me. “Ahem, sister, like what you see?”
“Yes.”
I was being honest. Then I added, “My name is Vivian.”
He really was, incredibly good-looking.
“Sister Vivian...”
Lucas moved closer to me, the scent of citrus shower gel wafting over as he leaned in.
I can’t. I’m going to get a nosebleed.
“Can you give me the money...”
Hearing that, I snapped back to reality and clutched the gold card tighter. I spat out one word.
“Get lost!”
He was good-looking, but definitely not as good-looking as Chinese yuan.
Trying to seduce me?
He had the wrong person.
I’ve been killing fish at the supermarket for ten years. My heart is already colder than the snowstorm in the desert.
Unless you pay me.
Lucas’s face instantly darkened. “Don’t be ungrateful! That’s my damn money!”
“Get lost!”
I repeated the same word.
“Damn it!” Lucas cursed, his face red with anger. “If you were a man, I’d beat you up!”
I proudly lifted my chin. “If I were a man, I couldn’t be your wife, now could I?”
“Get lost.”
Now it was his turn to say it.
4
I woke up the next day with huge dark circles under my eyes.
I’d been too excited the night before and hadn’t slept well.
The villa doorbell rang. I yawned and opened the door. A man in a black suit stood there.
“Miss Frost? I’m Jason, Mr. Warrington’s secretary.”
“These are Young Master Lucas’s car keys and the villa keys. Mr. Warrington asked me to deliver them to you.”
Before I could react, Jason handed me a tote bag printed with the words “Deposit Over 100 Million Commemorative.” Inside were a bunch of keys.
I almost dropped them on the floor.
Mission accomplished, Jason left with a flourish.
I carried the heavy tote bag and took the elevator to the underground garage.
I pressed a button on the wall.
The lights came on, layer by layer. The next moment, the bag slipped from my hand and hit the floor.
The parking lot was the size of a large amusement park. It was filled with all kinds of luxury cars.
There were no Mercedes or BMWs. The lowest tier was a Porsche 911. Above that, there were Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, McLarens, Maseratis—everything you could imagine.
I fell to my knees.
This was the asset of the richest man’s son.
Yesterday, this servant overstepped her bounds.
...
I carried the full bag of keys back upstairs and locked them in my room.
Then I made myself some breakfast.
Not long after, Lucas came downstairs, rubbing his eyes. When he saw me, his face darkened. “Why the hell are you still here?”
I smiled sweetly.
I held up the key to Mansion One.
“Sorry, but this is my house now.”
“Damn it!”
Lucas cursed, grabbing his jacket from the sofa. “Fine! You’re here, so I’ll leave!”
“Where are you going?”
I blocked his path. “I’m your wife. You have to tell me where you’re going.”
“I’m going to the Imperial Club. Don’t follow me!” After saying that, Lucas turned and walked out.
As soon as he got out the door, he patted his pocket and roared, “Where the hell are my keys?!”
They’re with me.
I chuckled. Lucas shot me a furious glare and left.
I went back to my room, grabbed a random key, and headed to the underground garage. I picked a random car, a McLaren, and headed straight for the Imperial Club.
Little guy, if I don’t get you back on the right track today, then you’ve got some strong bones.
5
Before going to the Imperial Club, I made a detour to the biggest shopping mall in the southern province.
I bought myself a whole new outfit.
I looked in the mirror. Well, I have to admit, I’m pretty good-looking.
Dressed up like this, I looked like I had a bit of a heiress vibe.
Hey, it’s not my fault Lucas’s assets are all at my disposal now.
By the time I arrived at the Imperial Club, over an hour had passed. Lucas was probably already having a blast.
Time for my entrance.
“Hello, who are you looking for?” a server asked, hurrying over.
I smiled sweetly. “I’m looking for Lucas Warrington. Can you take me to him?”
“Of course. Right this way.”
The server led me to the top floor of the Imperial Club, to the innermost room, 1603. That’s where Lucas was.
As soon as I reached the door, I heard Lucas’s voice.
“Damn it, I don’t know what’s gotten into my old man. He just had to find me some hick for a wife. It’s driving me crazy.”
“And he gave her all my money! Is he senile? He’s only met this hick a few times.”
There’s some filial piety there. But not much.
Another voice chimed in, a sweet, delicate female voice: “Brother Lucas, don’t be mad.”
“Mr. Warrington must just be temporarily blinded by that woman. Don’t worry, we all support you.”
Lucas: “You’re the best, little Ling.”
The hell you are.
I couldn’t take it anymore. I kicked open the door to the private room and stormed in, fuming.
The chatter in the room stopped abruptly.
On the sofa facing the door sat Lucas. Next to him was a delicate-looking girl clinging to him.
Around them sat four or five men, probably Lucas’s loser friends.
“What are you doing here?”
When Lucas saw me, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by disdain.
“Brother Lucas, who is this?” the girl asked, looking at me before wrapping her arm around Lucas’s. “She looks so fierce!”
I laughed.
What a little snake.
I said, “I’m his mother.”
Then, before anyone could react, I walked over, grabbed the fruit platter from the table, and smashed it down on Lucas’s face with a *bang*.
Lucas was stunned. He glared at me furiously. “You damn...”
He didn’t get to finish.
I stepped onto the table, grabbed him by the collar, yanked him off the sofa, and then—
A perfect shoulder throw.
*Thump!*
Lucas hit the floor.
I’ve been learning taekwondo, kickboxing, and Muay Thai since I was ten. I’ve been the national champion for fourteen years in a row.
Taking down a weakling who spends all his time chasing women is a piece of cake.
Everyone was stunned.
6
Especially the little snake clinging to Lucas. She was so scared she swallowed hard and started trembling.
“Ah... Damn it!”
Lucas curled up, trying to get up. I casually sat down on his back.
He was on his hands and knees, unable to stand.
I calmly lit a cigarette and smiled gently.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Lucas’s wife. My name is Vivian.”
“He’s been poorly disciplined. I apologize for the scene today.”
Everyone stammered, looking at each other, their earlier bravado completely gone.
“Uh... Sister-in-law, that’s... impressive.”
“Yeah, yeah...”
I nodded, took a deep drag of my cigarette, and looked at the trembling little snake.
She flinched at my gaze.
“Little sister,” I said gently. “I’m his wife. You know that, right?”
“Y-yes...” The little snake shrank back.
“Then why the hell are you clinging to him like that? Do you think I’m a vegetarian?!”
The little snake burst into tears at my sudden yell.
I shook my head to myself.
Tsk. This generation of snakes isn’t very good. Too fragile.
“I’ll let you off this time.” I stubbed out my cigarette and stood up. Lucas collapsed to the floor with a *thump*. “If I ever see you doing that again, I’ll break your legs.”
The little snake nodded frantically through her tears.
“Get up. Let’s go.”
I yanked Lucas up from the floor and smiled apologetically at the others. “Sorry, we have to go now. We’ll play another time.”
Lucas: “Someone save me!”
Everyone looked serious, silent as mice. “Goodbye, Sister-in-law!”
“Come play again next time!”
No one paid any attention to Lucas’s pleas for help.
Whoever dared to get involved, I’d beat them up too.
“Damn it! What use are you all?!” Lucas roared in anger.
I slapped him across the face. “Shut up.”
7
I got him in the car and drove him straight back to the villa.
In the living room.
I was lounging on the sofa.
Lucas was crouching in the corner.
“Did you have fun today?” I asked with a smile.
“N-no... No fun!” Lucas winced.
I sighed and patted his shoulder, making him flinch. “Lucas, we’re technically married now... or at least in a relationship, right?”
“There are some things I really don’t want to resort to violence for.”
“You can see that I’m a very gentle person. I don’t hit people unless I’m really pushed to the limit, right?”
Lucas nodded, a look of unshed tears and grievance in his eyes.
I smiled, satisfied. “See? You have me now, and you’re still going out to find other girls. Don’t you deserve to be hit?”
Even though Lucas and I were just in a transactional relationship, I was also tasked with changing him.
And I have zero tolerance for this kind of thing.
As long as we’re together, if he dares to find another girl, next time, I’ll break his legs.
Men need to be beaten. They don’t listen otherwise.
Lucas was about to speak, but I squinted my eyes, and he immediately nodded frantically.
“Good. You agree you deserve it. So, what happens if you go looking for other girls again?”
I slowly started to manipulate him.
Lucas was confused for a second, then said, “I... I get hit again?”
“That’s right.”
I patted his head comfortingly. Hey, his hair was really nice. It felt like petting a dog. “So next time, learn your lesson. Don’t do it again.”
“It makes me sad when you spend time with other girls, okay?”
Lucas nodded.
I smiled.
This good-for-nothing. He’s not only physically weak, but his IQ is also...
No wonder he loses money on every business deal he makes.
“Good. Now, sign this contract.” I pulled a document out of my bag.
I handed it to Lucas.
He looked at it, stunned. “What is this?”
“A three-point treaty.”
I crossed my legs. “From now on, if you break any of these rules, your allowance is cut, and you get a beating.”
Lucas jumped up, his earlier cowardly demeanor gone, glaring at me.
“Vivian! This is exploitation! You’re a damn vampire!”
“I swear I’m going to break my rule about not hitting women today! I’ll show you what domestic violence looks like!”
“Hmph.”
I sneered. “Are you even capable, you weakling?”
“Damn it!”
Lucas’s face darkened.
He rolled up his sleeves and lunged at me.
8
I kicked him flying.
He went far.
“Damn it!”
Lucas clutched his stomach, lying about four or five meters away from me. “You... You actually hit me?!”
“What else would I do?” I retorted.
“You lunged at me. I’m fragile and easily scared. Don’t frighten me.”
“You call this fragile?!” Lucas got up and lifted his shirt. There was a bruise on his eight-pack abs.
From my kick.
Well, that was self-defense.
“Ahem.”
I cleared my throat. “It’s your fault for trying to fight me.”
Lucas gritted his teeth. “Can I ask what you do for a living?!”
“Can’t you tell? I’m your wife. After we get married, I might become a stay-at-home wife,” I said.
Seeing Lucas glaring at me, I just waved my hand. “Fine. I’m a kickboxing coach. Currently with the national team.”
“6.”
Lucas just said “6,” his expression complicated as he stared at me. After a long pause, he said, “My dad is a damn genius for finding you to control me.”
I was modest.
“Keep it quiet.”
...
That night, after Lucas showered, he lay on the bed, waiting for me to apply medicine to his bruises.
I took the liniment and rubbed it in. Every time I did, he yelped.
“Can you keep your mouth shut?” I said impatiently.
Lucas looked wronged. “You’ve beaten me twice! Can’t I even complain a little?!”
Fine, fine.
I glanced sideways at him.
The kid had a good body and a good face. He had the looks, the physique, the intelligence... well, he had the looks.
Other than being a bit stupid, there wasn’t much else wrong with him.
“With an attitude like yours, you’ll never get married.”
After I finished applying the medicine, Lucas pouted and complained, “You’re so fierce. A tigress.”
“Don’t worry.”
I comforted him. “I’ll try my best to marry you.”
“Get lost!”
He looked horrified.
9
The next couple of days, Lucas was much more well-behaved.
He spent most of his time just rolling his eyes at me, but he didn’t go out much.
But because of that, my hands were getting itchy.
I hadn’t hit anyone in days. I felt restless.
So I dragged him out shopping with me.
“I’m not going! I’m not going!” Lucas hugged his blanket, looking like he was ready to die rather than comply.
I glared at him. “Are you going or not? If you don’t, I’ll beat you.”
“Why?! I haven’t done anything wrong!” Lucas protested.
Heh.
Little guy.
I took out the contract and scribbled a new rule on it: [If Vivian requests it, Lucas must accompany her. Otherwise, he gets beaten.]
Lucas yelled, “That’s a damn tyrannical clause! Have you no shame?!”
“I’m warning you, Vivian, I have my pride!”
I squinted my eyes and raised my arm.
Immediately, Lucas sprang up like a fish leaping out of water.
He urged me, “Hurry up! Aren’t we going shopping?!”
I: ...
There’s some pride there. But not much.
...
The mall’s parking garage was on the second basement level.
Lucas and I had just parked and hadn’t walked far when a gold-colored minibus came speeding from behind us.
It almost hit me.
Lucas immediately cursed, “Are you blind?!”
*Screech!*
The minibus stopped. Seven or eight thugs got out.
“Damn, how do so many people fit in this crappy car?”
Lucas was dumbfounded. He instantly chickened out and tugged on my sleeve. “Oh crap, run.”
I didn’t run.
Lucas didn’t run either.
I didn’t run because I wasn’t scared. Lucas didn’t run because... he couldn’t.
Before I could react, one of the thugs grabbed Lucas’s arm and threw him into the van.
“Damn it! Help me!”
They didn’t even look at me. They got in the van and sped off.
I stared at the empty space beside me, lost in thought.
Was this... a kidnapping?!
Why was I feeling a strange sense of excitement and anticipation?!
Wait!
I suddenly realized something was wrong. I took off running after them.
“Are you blind?! You missed one! Can’t you see me standing here?!”
“Why didn’t you kidnap me?! Come back! Take me too!!!”
10
Unexpectedly, but also not unexpectedly.
I also ended up in that gold minibus.
Hey, I gotta say, for a small van, it held a lot of people. With the two of us, we could have a game of Werewolf.
An advanced version, even.
Lucas sat next to me, his expression angry but also touched. “Are you an idiot?! Why didn’t you call the police?! Why did you have to come up here?!”
“You don’t get it, weakling. Stop talking.”
I glared at him.
“Hahaha!” One of the kidnappers sitting nearby couldn’t help but laugh. “This is the first time I’ve seen someone volunteer to be kidnapped. Which asylum did you escape from?”
Before I could speak, another kidnapper, who seemed to be the leader, smacked him on the head in annoyance. “Shut up! This is a serious kidnapping! Show some respect!”
“Oh...” The kidnapper rubbed his head and stopped laughing.
The smile successfully transferred to my face.
The leader glared at me and kicked me. “What are you smiling at?”
I: ...
I’ll endure.
Just you wait. Wait until I find out who’s behind this.
If I don’t break your legs today, you’d better have some strong bones.
...
The windows of the minibus were all blacked out.
I couldn’t see outside either. I didn’t know where we were going. We took a lot of twists and turns before finally stopping.
“Get out!”
That kidnapper yanked me, and I almost hit my head on the car.
Good. That’s twice.
They took us to an abandoned factory and confiscated our phones.
Before I could react, I got a kick in the ass.
“Damn it!”
I crashed heavily into Lucas, who let out a scream.
“That’s the third time!”
I gritted my teeth and turned around angrily to look at the kidnapper. “Do you have the guts to tell me your name?!”
The kidnapper looked proud. “I am who I am. Wang Wu!”
“Wang Wu, is it? I’ll remember you.” I was seething.
The leader walked over and smacked Wang Wu hard on the head. “Are you an idiot?! You’re a kidnapper! Why the hell did you tell her your name?!”
“Oh... yeah...” Wang Wu was stunned, looking confused.
“Both of you, behave, or I’ll make you see red!” the leader threatened us menacingly.
I sat down on the ground and cleared my throat, putting on a proud air. “Who sent you? Do you know who he is? He’s the biological son of Harrison Warrington, the richest man in the country!”
“Do you have a death wish, kidnapping him?”
Hearing this, Lucas nodded frantically.
The kidnapper laughed and walked over to Lucas. “The richest man’s son, huh?”
“Of course!” Lucas lifted his chin.
“Not only do I dare to kidnap him, I dare to beat him too!”
With that, the kidnapper reached out and slapped Lucas across the face.
11
Lucas was stunned.
He stared at the kidnapper in disbelief.
I was furious. “What do you think you’re doing?! How dare you hit the richest man’s son?! Just wait until his father gets here! He’ll kill you!”
“You think I was born yesterday?”
The kidnapper was angry too. He slapped Lucas again. “I’ll hit him! And there’s nothing you can do about it!”
“Go on! Hit him again if you dare!”
I was enraged.
*Slap!*
The kidnapper didn’t hesitate. He gave Lucas another slap. “I’ll do it! What are you gonna do about it?”
This guy is reliable. When you tell him to hit, he hits.
He’s an honest man.
“How dare you...”
Before I could finish, Lucas started crying.
“Please, I’m begging you! Just shut up, will you?!” Lucas looked like he was about to cry from frustration. “She’s the one talking! Why do you keep hitting me?!”
The kidnapper might have realized that too.
He turned to look at me.
“Damn, you almost fooled me. Who the hell are you?” the kidnapper squinted, his expression unreadable.
The black mask only left his eyes visible.
“I’m his fiancée!” I said proudly.
The kidnapper looked at Lucas. “Your fiancée? Which family is she from?”
“She’s not from any family. My dad picked her up off the street,” Lucas said, glancing at me. “She’s useless. My dad definitely won’t pay a ransom for her. Just let her go.”
Hearing this, the kidnapper sneered. “We weren’t going to bother with her. But she insisted on coming. Since she’s useless, let’s just get rid of her!”
“Xiao Wu, bury her in the back mountain.”
I: ???
Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider? I have a lot of properties and luxury cars under my name!
Hearing this, Lucas looked shocked, then panicked. “No, no! I was just joking! She’s useful! She’s definitely useful!”
“Tell my dad she’s here! He’ll definitely pay the ransom for her!”
The kidnapper was unmoved. “She knows our names. She can’t live.”
With that, Wang Wu grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out of the factory.
As I was being taken out, I could still hear Lucas yelling.
“If you dare to touch her, I’ll kill every single one of you when I get out!”
“Let her go! Damn it...”
Wang Wu pulled me by the arm and shoved me into the woods behind the factory.
He leered at me. “You’re pretty good-looking. How about... letting me have some fun before you die?”
“Sure. How do you want to have fun?” I asked with a smile.
Wang Wu didn’t expect me to agree so readily. He was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.
The next second, his laughter stopped abruptly.
Because I kicked him right in the groin.
“Agh!”
Just as he started to scream, I picked up a rock from the ground and shoved it into his mouth.
“Mmph mmph!”
Wang Wu’s mouth was full of blood, and a few of his teeth were knocked out. I grabbed a stick and hit him over the head with it.
He passed out.
I kicked him. “Next time you become a kidnapper, remember not to tie your shoelaces in a bow, you idiot.”
12
The kidnappers thought I was stupid.
But they were on the first level, thinking I was in the basement.
They didn’t realize that I was playing on a whole different level.
What kind of kidnappers can’t even withstand one kick from me? These guys weren’t even worth my time as an appetizer.
I picked up a stick that felt good in my hand and hummed a little tune as I walked back.
At the factory entrance, I could hear chaos inside.
“Boo hoo hoo... Vivian, I’m so sorry!”
“It’s all my fault! I got you killed! I’ll definitely avenge you, Vivian!”
That was Lucas’s voice.
“Will you shut up?! You’re so annoying!”
“If you cry one more time, I’ll kill you!”
That was the kidnapper’s voice.
“Kill me if you want! I’m not afraid of you!” Lucas roared, his voice heart-wrenching. “I don’t even dare to lay a hand on her! How dare you kill her!”
I twitched the corner of my mouth.
You don’t dare to lay a hand on her? Isn’t it because you can’t beat her?
You’re really good at making yourself look good. I almost believed you.
“Damn it! I’ll show you...”
Hearing that, I kicked open the factory door.
Lucas was pinned down, and the kidnapper had his fist raised, ready to punch.
“You...”
The kidnapper heard the noise and turned around. Seeing me standing at the door, he was shocked. “How did you get out?! Where’s Xiao Wu?!”
Lucas was overjoyed. “Vivian! You’re okay!”
I waved the stick in my hand.
“If you’re talking about that guy who can’t control his lower half and is a bit of an idiot, then he’s probably bled out by now.”
“You’re asking for death!”
The kidnappers were all furious. They grabbed their weapons and came at me.
I counted. Six people. No guns.
As the saying goes, speed is the ultimate weapon.
Within seven steps, the gun is faster.
Within seven steps, the gun is both fast and accurate.
So if they don’t have guns, they’re no threat.
Lucas looked worried and immediately shouted, “Run! Don’t worry about me!”
“Run my ass.”
I tapped the stick in my hand and sneered.
“Sorry, but in this life, if I’m not happy, I fight.”
“The world is full of temptations. If you don’t have the strength, don’t act tough!”
13
About three minutes later.
Six kidnappers were lying on the floor, scattered around.
Their injuries varied in severity.
The worst off would probably never walk again.
I threw away the broken stick in my hand.
Lucas watched me walk over, his eyes twitching. He swallowed hard.
“You...”
I gave him an annoyed look. “You, what?”
Then I untied his ropes.
This idiot was so useless he couldn’t even untie a simple bow himself. He had to wait for me.
After I untied him, I walked over to the kidnappers, took their phones, and called the police.
Then I sat on the ground, waiting for rescue.
Lucas crept closer to me. “So you’re that strong... When you hit me...?”
“What do you think?”
I rolled my eyes. “If I hit you like that, would you still be alive?”
Even that shoulder throw at the KTV, I used my own leg to cushion his fall.
This weakling couldn’t even take a few punches from me.
Lucas didn’t seem to mind. He leaned in close to me, flashing a charming smile. “Can you teach me?”
“If I ever get kidnapped again, maybe I can handle it myself.”
I thought for a moment. “Forget it. You can’t even untie a simple knot.”
Lucas fell silent.
Was I too blunt? Did I hurt his male ego?
Thinking about it, I added, “You can learn, but you have to pay tuition. And no refunds if you can’t stick with it.”
“Why do I have to pay you?” Lucas complained. “You’re my fiancée. All the Warrington money will be yours eventually anyway.”
I chuckled. “That’s not necessarily true. You obviously don’t think much of me. Maybe one day your dad will be in a bad mood and kick me out. Then I’d be the one losing out.”
“Who said I don’t think much of you?!”
Lucas retorted instinctively.
Then he immediately turned his face away, but I could clearly see his ears turning red.
I teased him. “What, you’re attracted to my awesome skills? Falling for me?”
“Get lost!”
...
Not long after, police cars arrived, sirens blaring.
They sent a lot of officers, guns drawn, as they cautiously approached the factory.
Then they saw the kidnappers lying everywhere.
“W-what happened here?”
The lead officer was stunned for a moment, then looked at me.
Just as I was about to speak.
“Master Vivian?!”

Huh?
I was a bit confused. Did this officer know me?
The officer fumbled to take off his helmet, revealing a handsome face with a surprised expression. “It’s me! It’s Cole!”
“Cole?” I was startled.
Before joining the national team, I had another job.
I worked as an instructor at the police academy for a while.
I taught some kickboxing and combat techniques. I was kind of a teacher.
And Cole was one of the students I taught.
He was three years younger than me. Back then, he didn’t respect me and challenged me. After I beat him for three days straight, he finally behaved.
I hadn’t seen him since I stopped teaching.
It had been at least three or four years.
Lucas suddenly came over, looking displeased. “Who is he?”
Cole was also surprised. “Master, do you know Mr. Warrington?”
I was still thinking about how to explain when Lucas put his arm around my shoulders, lifted his chin, and said proudly, “You’re my fiancée’s disciple, right? Then you have to call me ‘Master’s Husband.’”
I: ...
Cole: ...
The other officers: ...
The atmosphere was silent for a moment.
I pursed my lips and looked at Lucas. “That was a great introduction. Please don’t introduce me ever again.”
...
We followed Cole back to the police station, gave our statements, and were released.
We were the victims, after all.
As we were leaving, Cole jogged after us. “Master, I never got your contact info back at the academy. Let’s exchange numbers.”
“Sure.”
I didn’t think much of it.
We added each other on social media, and I left with Lucas.
Harrison Warrington was waiting for us at home.
As I was walking, I suddenly felt something was off.
I turned to look at Lucas. His face was red, he was looking down, and he was glaring at me.
“Do you have something in your eye? Want me to slap a new one in for you?” I squinted.
Lucas was breathing heavily, looking angry. “What’s your relationship with that... Cole guy? Why did you add him on social media?”
I found this hilarious.
“Didn’t I tell you? He’s practically
